Canada born SØHØ is Asia's first Director-Designer and the first North American filmmaker to make a film in Korean and English. Mentored by the winner of the French Legion of Honor and star of 14 films by of one of history's greatest ever filmmakers Satyajit Ray (lauded by Oscar-winners from Martin Scorcese, Danny Boyle and Christopher Nolan), Soumitra Chatterjee who he has known as an Uncle for decades since his youth, as well as by 5 time Grammy winner composer of Nolan's favorite films the Apu Trilogy Ravi Shankar and Master of Composition Nemai Ghosh, SØHØ is the head of 6 PAC or Pan Asian Cinema — the world's only film company that links Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong, India and Canada and can be visited at 6PAC.jp. SØHØ has played the lead in short films and PSAs that also featured major celebrities including Stanley Kubrich's protege Shirley Douglas (wife of Donald Sutherland and mother of Kiefer Sutherland), Amitabh Bachchan (BBC's Star of the Millennium), Anupam Kher (Oscar-winning "Silver Linings Playbook" and NBC's "Amsterdam" TV series), Preity Zinta (Genie-nominated star of Deepa Mehta's "Heaven on Earth") and NBA Superstar Enes Freedom among others. SØHØ has been offered to direct a biopic on Korean hero General Hong Boem-do by the Hong family linked to Korean Broadcasting and is now working on a trilogy to be set in Asian powerhouses with Destiny: A Star is ReBorn in Korea, an authentic Japan based film on the lines of the 19-Emmy Awards winning Shogun and an epic to be filmed across China on the lines of China's Official Entry for the Oscars - Xuanzhang.
Like Satyajit Ray, SØHØ can handle all aspects of a film himself which enables him to better instruct his crews in Canada, Japan and Korea. Further, like Satyajit Ray in the Apu Trilogy, widely considered among the greatest films of all time, SØHØ casts real actors like National Award winning paraplegic actor MJ Baek in a key role to uphold Neo-realism in cinema. SØHØ is also a master of "show don't tell" filmmaking where he conveys the narrative and character arcs through dance in lieu of dialogue and portrays emotions via motion and movement. Like Satyajit Ray,SØHØ tackles serious issues like brain surgery, alcoholism, ageism, racism and the pursuit of unrealized dreams with restraint and realism and always films on location — which in this case means Korea, Japan and Canada for principal photography with additional scenes in the fashion capitals of Paris, London, Berlin and New York City as well as Shanghai, Kunming, Hong Kong, Ireland, Singapore, Dubai, India and Thailand (in honor of Lalisa Manoban of Blackpink).
In addition to directing, SØHØ also plays the lead actor Sunny -- a former K-Pop star who must overcome a brain injury to make a comeback in the competitive arena of pop music and fashion -- against all odds and adversity. Like Jaafar Jackson in the recent blockbuster Michael and Natalie Portman in the Oscar-winning Black Swan, SØHØ trained for a year and re-modelled his physique into a sculpted dancer's frame complete with 6 pack abs. In addition, SØHØ mastered complex choreography from Street Jazz and Salsa to Breakdancing and Hiphop -- and he even moved to Gangnam - the Beverly Hills of Seoul to fully identify with the spirit of K-pop now taking the world by storm. SØHØ has also been invited to meet many Korean leaders, artists, K-pop idols, influencers and organizations as the CEO of APAC or Association for the Preservation of Asian Culture with offices in Gangnam, Korea and Tokyo, Japan.
In a world where Asians often lack representation, SØHØ's Mission is to give a powerful voice to Asian themes and culture in world cinema.
